Well... There is a lot happening.  A real lot.  We ordered some hats, not many, but they are here.  All different colors.  Let us know what you think of them and if you would be interested in purchasing them for $25 each.  Again, there is currently a limited quantity, but we can order more if there is interest.

What's Next? Quail!

Quail?  Yes quail.  Tiny little quail.  They have moved out of the brooder and into their new home.  The quail house features a slightly sloped floor that, in theory, should allow the quail eggs to roll down into the box in the front once they are laid.  The pitch is slight and should not pose an issue for the birds to walk on.  Mr. built this coop in the driveway and with the help of his son carried it over to place it.  It's a good thing that Mr. has strong sons.

Move That Over There

About a month ago we were scrolling through FB marketplace and we found two large rabbit hutches and miscellaneous items for raising rabbits for sale.  The hutches were large and didn't fit on the rented trailer that had we brought all the way up into New Hampshire with us to bring them home with.  That trip was nerve racking,  Just picture two large hutches, each one hanging over opposite sides of the trailer, and a white knuckled 2.5 hour trip back home.  Anyway, I digress... When we got them home Mr. fired up the tractor, put the forks on the front, and proceeded to lift them off the trailer and place them over near the chicken coop.  Mr.'s idea was to make it neat and orderly and everything contained to one area to ease in the care of the animals. Well, after placing them and stepping back to look at his handy work, Mrs. decides that she wanted them on across the field so that they didn't block the view of the pond, (which you can literally see from just about every angle.)  So being the good Mr., I moved them to where she wanted them.

Welcome to our journey

Owning and operating a small farm has been a life long goal of ours.  This year, 2024, has been a crazy ride.  We sold our home of 27 years.  The home where we raised our family.  The house on top of a mountain.  The home were we thought we would never leave.  Yet, here we are.  Our children are all adults with their own lives and families.  The property where the beginnings of our farm are starting to take shape became available and we couldn't believe the rollercoaster ride we got on.  Mrs. is a Captain in the Air Force, Mr. served in the Marines.  She was a raised on a farm, he was raised in an apartment.  LETS GO!!! Farmers Mr. and Mrs. Jones.
